FKIP – The agenda for the Work Meeting of the Communication Forum (Forkom) of the State Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) throughout Indonesia is held offline. This year, the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta had the opportunity to be the host. The meeting of FKIP leaders throughout Indonesia took place at the UNS Inn on Saturday (29/1/2022).
On the agenda of this meeting, the Directorate General of Teachers and Education Personnel, Dr. Irwan Syahril, Ph.D. took part in providing material with the title “The Role of FKIP in Improving Teacher Quality for Advanced Indonesia”.
The activity was guided directly by Dr. Djono, M.Pd. who is also the Deputy Dean of Planning, Business Cooperation, and Information FKIP UNS.
In his presentation, Dr. Irwan started by explaining the meaning of Ki Hajar Dewantara’s motto.
“Being an educator is someone who has to set an example. Being an educator is someone who builds enthusiasm. Then, how does education ultimately create independent or independent human beings,” said Irwan.

Dr. Irwan started the material by presenting the organizational structure and governance of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology based on the Regulation of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Permendikbudristek) 28/2021. Furthermore, Dr. Irwan conveyed the number of graduates of the pre-service Teacher Professional Education (PPG) program.
“Since 2006 the pre-service PPG has graduated less than 30,000 participants. It is estimated that there will be a shortage of teachers taking into account retirees in the next 5 years,” said Dr. Irwan.
Dr. Irwan also said that the vision of transforming Indonesian teacher education is to restore the spirit of teachers together with the goal of world-class teacher education.

The presentation was continued by discussing the focus of the revitalization of the LPTK for the Educational Personnel Education Institution (LPTK).
“The revitalization of LPTKs focuses on strengthening teacher education, especially strengthening human resources. This is done by means of special scholarships for teacher education lecturers, special visiting scholars for teacher education, and comparative studies to the world’s best teacher education programs,” Irwan explained, accompanied by exposure to 30 priority universities in the field of education. teacher education.
It was also conveyed that the PPG pre-service entrance exam stages included content mastery tests, basic literacy and numeracy skills, and interviews.
At the end, Irwan said that the direction of global education transformation was interdisciplinary teaching and learning with General Performance Indicators (IKU) as the foundation for the transformation of higher education.
