Two FKIP UNS Study Programs Prepare Steps to Get International Accreditation ASIIN

FKIP – The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta again shows the quality of international standard education. This time, two study programs (prodi) from FKIP UNS are again preparing for the accreditation of Akkreditierungsagentur für Studiengänge der Ingenieurwissenschaften, der Informatik, der Naturwissenschaften und der Mathematik (ASIIN). The two study programs are Chemistry Education Study Program and Biology Education Study Program. ASIIN accreditation visits to the two study programs were opened at the UNS Inn Hotel and held on Tuesday-Thursday (1-3/2/2022).

ASIIN itself is an international accreditation agency originating from Germany. The institute accredits engineering, computer science, natural sciences, and mathematics studies. During the Covid-19 pandemic, ASIIN accreditation visitations were carried out online with the same series and stages of accreditation as offline visits.

Chairman of the Institute for Quality Assurance and Development (LPPM), Prof. Dr. Sarwiji Suwandi, M.Pd., explained that the preparations made by the two study programs in cluster A were more mature than those in other clusters.

“Looking at the preparations that have been made by the Biology Education Study Program and Chemistry Education Study Program, which is a cluster A study program, preparation for international accreditation has so far been more mature than the study programs in clusters B and C. These two study programs had previously simulated ASIIN accreditation visitation before visit today until next Thursday. With these preparations, hopefully, the Biology Education and Chemistry Education Study Program will get the accreditation results as expected, “explained Prof. Sarwiji.

In his direction, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus, MS as UNS Deputy Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs said that each study program that is preparing for international accreditation must follow developments and changes at the study program, faculty, and university level because based on previous experience, each international accreditation process has different questions.

“We already have 3 experiences in implementing international accreditation. Each accreditation process has different questions. So, if the accreditation preparation activities do not follow the development of the study program, there will be many difficulties in the visitation process. Therefore, Biology Education and Chemistry Education Study Programs that will carry out ASIIN international accreditation must also follow developments and changes at the study program, faculty, and university levels,” said Prof. Yunus.
