FKIP – Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program (PGSD) Kebumen Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held a National Seminar on Educational Innovation (SNIP) with the theme “Family and School Synergy to Develop Character, Literacy, and Numeracy in Learning in the Digital Age”. This seminar was held online through Zoom Meeting and the SEMAR TV youtube channel on Saturday (25/9/2021).
Dr. Suhartono as the Head of the Kebumen PGSD Study Program, FKIP UNS, said that during this pandemic, students will learn more online, as a consequence, the active role of parents and teachers in assisting children’s learning process is needed. The role of parents in education in an era that allows children to gain abundant, fast, and easy knowledge is to assist in the use of technology media. Meanwhile, the teacher as a partner in learning must design learning activities so that students get more information than the time allotted.
“Parents like it or not have to learn about technology to help their children follow the lesson. On the other hand, teachers must try to manage learning that can serve students from home and school,” explained Dr. Suhartono.
Meanwhile, Dr. Dewi Kusuma Wardani, M.Sc. as the Deputy Dean for Human Resources, Finance, and Logistics, who was present to give a speech at the same time opening this seminar said that during the pandemic the technological gap and unequal access to education between regions contributed to the non-optimal achievement of education in Indonesia.
The Covid pandemic, which has changed various sectors of life, has also given serious challenges to the education sector. Many students have difficulty in learning due to loss of learning. Therefore, he hopes that this activity will provide learning that can reduce the occurrence of loss learning, not only for students but also for parents and teachers.

This seminar presented four speakers, namely Prof. Dr. Sudarwan Danim, M.Pd. (University of Bengkulu) with the material “Learning Innovation to Develop Literacy”, Prof. Gunarhadi, MA, Ph.D. (Sebelas Maret University) with the material “Character Development and Inclusive Education”, Dr. Muhamad Nur Wangid, M.Si (State University of Yogyakarta) with the material “Digital Learning Innovation”, Dr. Parmin, M.Pd. (Semarang State University) with the material “Learning Innovation to Develop Numeracy”.
As the first speaker, Prof. Dr. Sudarwan Danim said that after the Covid-19 pandemic, traditional learning patterns such as in schools, communities, and family literacy will experience changes because they are unable to survive in real life. Meanwhile, learning during the Covid-19 pandemic is a correction that the learning that has been used so far is not able to accommodate all situations.
Dr. Muhamad Nur Wangid added that during this pandemic, face-to-face learning was forced to rely on online learning. Student motivation, teacher’s ability to carry out learning, LMS content that is not ready, to network disturbances have become new problems. In anticipation of these problems, after the pandemic, there will be mixed learning or blended learning.
“There may be no full online learning anymore, what is possible is blended learning,” he said.
This seminar was attended by 621 participants from various regions in Indonesia, such as Central Java, Yogyakarta, West Java, Jakarta, Bengkulu, North Kalimantan, and Bali. There were 62 registered papers by students, teachers, principals, and lecturers.
